Our contribution to protecting ancient beech forests

Ancient beech forests are more than just trees – they are habitats, climate protectors, and places full of peace and strength. For us, they are an inexhaustible source of inspiration. By participating in the UrwaldProjekt of Wohlleben’s Forest Academy, we aim to do our part in preserving these special places for future generations.

The UrwaldProjekt by Wohllebens Waldakademie

The UrwaldProjekt preserves ancient deciduous forests in Germany, especially beech and oak mixed forests that serve as habitats for numerous specialized species.

Our commitment

2000 m² forest – protected for 50 years

For 30 years, Orfgen Marketing has stood for creativity, innovation, and sustainable values. In this anniversary year, we have deepened our commitment to climate protection: we protect 2000 m² of untouched forest as part of Wohllebens UrwaldProjekt.

Ancient beech forests are essential for ecological balance. They store carbon, preserve biodiversity, and inspire us with their boundless strength. This project is more than environmental protection for us – it’s an expression of our appreciation for nature, which inspires us every day.

Why protect ancient forests?

The unknown power of old beech forests

Ancient forests are not only impressive to look at, they also fulfill diverse, often underestimated functions for our climate, biodiversity and our livelihoods. Their protection safeguards far more than just trees - it preserves a complex network that stabilizes our ecosystem.

Carbon storag

Old beech forests bind large amounts of CO₂, making them natural climate protectors.

Habitat

They provide homes to countless plant and animal species – from tiny insects to majestic red kites

Inspiration

Their tranquility and beauty symbolize creativity and sustainable thinking.

Natural climate control

Ancient forests store significant water amounts and help regulate the local climate.

6 interesting facts about trees

01

Trees grow mostly at night: Contrary to common belief, tree growth primarily occurs in the dark due to higher humidity at night.

02

A single tree can provide oxygen for 50 people: A mature beech produces enough oxygen daily for up to 50 people.

03

There are over 60,000 tree species worldwide: While spruce and beech dominate in Germany, new species are continually discovered globally.

04

Forests house the highest biodiversity on land: Central European beech forests alone support around 10,000 species.

05

Trees communicate via “wood wide web”: They share resources and information through underground fungal networks.

06

Trees need friends: Trees thrive and live longer when growing in communities, protecting and nourishing each other.

30 years of Orfgen Marketing

A meaningful anniversary

In 2024, we celebrate 30 years of Orfgen Marketing. This anniversary is the perfect occasion to not only look back but also look forward. With the support of the UrwaldProjekt, we set an example for sustainability and securing the future – values that we live by in our daily work.

Wohllebens Waldakademie

Our partner for forest protection

Wohllebens Waldakademie is regarded as THE educational institution for forest and nature topics in Germany. Founded in 2017, the company has established itself over the years as a unique place of learning for forest enthusiasts. Since 2018, owners and managing directors Tobias and Johanna Wohlleben have been running the company in the idyllic Eifel region with a team of 20 people. In addition to the five to six thousand visitors on site (in Wershofen), the learning platform for online courses “Wald-Lernen.de” has established itself in recent years.

With the “UrwaldProjekt”, they are successfully campaigning for the protection of old deciduous forests, reaching a conservation community of over 15,000 people and companies. In addition to providing forestry advice to forest owners, committed individuals and politicians, renting out seminar rooms and implementing research projects, Johanna and Tobias considered the “Café Blattwerk” project to be a well-rounded overall concept. Since spring 2024, people have been invited to linger and enjoy themselves here – before attending a seminar, after a hike, a bike tour or just because!

Together we make a difference

Every contribution counts

Sustainability is teamwork. We invite our clients, partners, and employees to get involved – whether through projects like the UrwaldProjekt or other sustainable initiatives. Every contribution counts in making our world a little greener.
